Trial Adoption
Dogs with this designation are now living on a trial basis with families who hope to permanently adopt them but who would like some time to see if the dog they've chosen works out for them. When the adoption is finalized, a congratulations message will appear. Until then, people interested in a dog whose adoption is pending are encouraged to e-mail Bonnie at A Place for US and I'll let them know if the dog becomes available.

Contributions
Although we ask reimbursement for vet and shelter costs, sometimes a dog needs expensive pre-adoption medical procedures. Contributions toward these medical expenses help dogs to be adopted. Contribution may be made to:
Bilmar Small Animal Clinic (w/notation "For Bonnie's strays" on check)
And sent to:  A Place For Us, 4 Taconic Lane, Gt. Barrington, MA 01230

Hi Bonnie,
I love your website and think what you do is wonderful! My boyfriend and I had been looking for a dog for quite some time and came across your website. We followed the link to dogs in shelters and thought Abby was beautiful. I actually called you and got the phone # for the Sonsini shelter and we went down and hung our with her the next day. I'm happy to say, we adopted her and renamed her Tiger. She is a wonderful dog (and will be even better after we start obedience training next week!) and we love her so much! Just wanted to say thanks for everything you do and for helping us hook up with our sweetie! Happy New Year

Dear Bonnie:
I've been fascinated with your website, ever since I first discovered it over a year ago because I am very interested and curious about dog foster care and have never seen a website actually hosted by a foster parent At some point in the future, when I get my act together I think I'd like to try fostering a dog, or maybe more. 16 months ago I adopted a Newfoundland/mix dog from the CCAC in Brooklyn, New York. "Bear", then two years old, wasn't neutered, wasn't housebroken and wasn't obedience trained. He was quite unruly. It took me several months to get him neutered, housebroken, and graduated from obedience training. Today I've got a great dog. Bear was well worth the struggle. I love him sooooo much!! Thank you and bless you for your fostering efforts.

I know you must stay quite busy, so I'll keep this short. I stumbled across your web site as I was searching for information on dogs available for rescue. I live in Houston, Texas and basically just wanted to tell you what a SPECIAL person you are!! Bless you heart for all that you are doing for these dogs. You are awesome!! I wish you all the best!

Dear Bonnie,
. . . I'll continue to check in on your website and see what's new. As you and I both know, there is always another pooch out there in need of a home, and I know my match will come along eventually...I think you are doing potential adopters (and all the wonderful dogs) a great service and can't thank you enough for doing what what so many of us wish we could.  Thank-you -- K.T.

Bonnie receives a check from Chase M., a 13-year-old Rudolf Steiner School student in Gt. Barrington, MA, who wanted to donate his 13th birthday gift money to "A place where they help dogs." Cleo and Rio, who came from local shelters and are now up for adoption, look on.

Hi!
I am an admirer of your work and visit your site any time an acquaintance wants to adopt a dog to try and find good matches.

Hi! I wrote to you about 7-8 months ago to tell you what a wonderful
place you have and to tell you what great pictures you take of the
dogs. Now I am writing to say thank you for putting that little Zelda
update on the home page, I had been watching her for months and hoping
that she would find the right home. We found a dog through All Paws
Rescue 6 months ago who has just been a joy to have and a wonderful new
"sister" to our two boys, but I can't help checking all of the familiar
haunts to keep up with the dogs that are posted. We are so lucky to
have people like you and the many others that just give their hearts and
homes to these dogs while they wait for their dreams to come true!

Thank you for all the work you do so tirelessly! -- L.S.

Bonnie,
As you recall, my son Alex and drove out last July to adopt Rex.
What a terrific decision that was! Rex, now wieghing 60+ pounds, is
a thoroughly spoiled, loved, and vital member of our family. He is
the perfect fit for us and his adoption that Saturday one of our best
ideas. Just wanted to let you know what a great placement Rex has,
and please tell the vet who did not put him down, but called you,
they were so right to find this gentle, loving, and very cuddly dog,
a home.
Take care, -- M. S.

Hello Bonnie,
We wanted to write and let you know that Daisy continues to do very well and We Love Her to  Pieces. Dr. Moore found out that she is positive for Lyme and treated her with antibiotics and a  neurological consult revealed that she really can't be helped by surgery - Dr. Moore said she just is  put together a little strange:). Daisy, Quinn (our other Chow) and Chelsea (the Silky terrier) all  loved the holidays - a tree inside and lots for presents. We wanted to thank you again for rescuing  this wonderful little girl who is now a much loved and doted on member of our family.
Peace and Good Health -- D.L. & A.D.

Hi,
What a wonderful thing you are doing for these very lucky dogs. I'dlove to
be doing the same thing but I don't have the space right now. Maybe some
day I will. In the meantime, I would like to help with your efforts. Do you accept donations? I have been revamping my charitable giving and am now
focusing on local/regional humane efforts and cutting down on the numbers of
national (big budget) organizations to whom I give. I don't have big
amounts of money but it is your type of activity which I would like to support.

Congratulations on your fine work with animals. I admire and am grateful for people like you. When I finish graduate school in a couple of years and get a steady little place of my own, I'll be getting in touch with you or one of the sites on your 'links' page.

Dear "Bonnie":  I've never met you but your web site says it all! What a wonderful environment for the dogs. I'm in the process of trying to adopt yet another Sheltie from New England Sheltie Rescue in Canterbury, CT. We've had Kiah with us for about two years and she's the most wonderful Sheltie in the world - loving, giving, and devoted. I keep watching your site to see if a Sheltie happens into your life because I'm looking for another buddy to wander into mine..... Congratulations on such a wonderful job!
